Fashion x Music Culture: SBA & Taz
So this week I've had the pleasure of meeting and talking with these two young innovators SBA who is a rapper/songwriter and Taz an aspiring producer who also happen to be brothers working together with a killer fashion sense, influenced by the 90s and artists like Kanye, Pharell and Jay Z.
What inspires you to continue creating new music?
The culture itself, when you’ve been a part of it from such a young age, you see it develop, you see certain people within it develop and people start paying attention towards certain things. For instance, back in the day when we were growing up we were looking to people like Pharell and Eclipse and look at them today - Pharell is a super icon, Pusha T is president of GOOD Music, so what I mean is that you just catch waves over time when you follow your passion and whatever it is it will pay out for you all in due time.
What advice would you give to other aspiring musicians?
Definitely keep going no matter the situation, everyone takes a different path in life and has their own story of how they make it to their dream. No matter what obstacles you may face just keep focused and keep pursuing. Don't let this life take the dream out of you, stay dreaming.
What's it like working together
Its calm because like Taz said before when I was in the studio making music with our friend Joel he was there, I let him know from early that rapping was the wave that we were going to take and hes been there to see what I've been doing and my progression so to me that shows a certain form of expression from him to also want to get into and share in my creative world so he understands my ting and I understand what he does so its easy for us. Plus obviously being brothers it makes it even easier.
I've got to ask, who dresses the best out of you both?
We don't compete with each other, we just turn up and stunt!
Favorite spot in London at the moment?
Definitely The Globe in Portobello, right near Rum Kitchen on a cheeky Friday night.
